RIP Michael Jackson

As most of you know, the beloved King of Pop, Michael Jackson has passed at the young age of 50. Instead of going on a long rant about how much I loved him, I am simply going to say that as a musician, I feel that we have lost a major part of our industry. His music inspired every musician you see out there. From independent artists such as myself to major artists that we see on TV and on the radio. So in short, if you can’t tweet about it, if you can’t set a status update on Facebook, take a moment to yourself and listen to your favorite Michael Jackson song. And when you have a chance, watch these 2 videos that pretty much sum up MJ’s EPICNESS!

And if you’d like, to discuss, let me know what your favorite Michael Jackson song! For all you Facebook followers, leave a comment here on my blog: http://www.rhythmemotion.net/blackhole

Shoes, Kicks, Sneakers

Shoes, kicks, sneakers, just a couple of names that we give those things we put on our feet. It has been said that the shoes make the person and as of recently that is true. However, finding the perfect pair is a little difficult sometimes. Whether it’s a new pair of Nikes’ or a pair of Pumas’ that were released 5 years ago, there is always going to be that one “perfect” shoe. With that said, I present to you:

kix

If I ever needed to find a pair or rare or past released shoes I go here to Super Kix. I have been able to find loads of shoes at cheap prices (they give you a list of vendors) and are even able to filter the gender, size, and price display!

Anyway, in the mail today, I received two $10 gift cards from Foot Locker. So of course I immediately went to their website and looked for some shoes, and considering that there is a Foot Locker at the mall I am NOT going to purchase them online. After a long amount of time looking, I’ve decided on a pair of Nike Air Max 90’s. Why you ask? Well, Air Max is a old school running shoe that provides support and to be honest, that was the only thing I was looking for. They may not look super special, but with the right wardrobe, I’m pretty sure I’ll have no trouble rocking these. Let me know what you think (the picture is also a link to the Foot Locker website with other colorways)…

Love Is In the Air

Ricky and Sana
Ricky and Sana

Now this is not me and my girlfriend nor is it some famous asian rock star and a hot groupie! The lovely couple you see above is my cousin Ricky and his wife (to be on June 20th) Sana. I would definitely have to say that these two people are the most influential people in my life. Ricky has really influenced me in becoming the person I am today. My love for music, for technology, and of course video games is because of the endless hours I would spend in LA just hanging out and learning all sorts of useful (and useless information). Sana has really done a great job (along with Mylene) in keeping me hip / stylish (I think so at least). My love for sneakers and bargain shopping is because of this crazy woman. Now the reason why I took the time in making this post is because as of June 20th, these two crazy kids will be officially married. I want to thank them for everything that they have given / taught me. I also want to congratulate them in getting married and officially welcome Sana into the family. I love you guys and I know that you, Sana, will be the greatest edition to our family.

Punchout – Nintendo Wii

punchoutwii

Little Mac, Doc Louis, Glass Joe, and Mr. Sandman. Any of these names ring a bell? Well they should cause they are a couple of the returning characters in Nintendo’s newest installment of a golden classic, “Punchout.” The game has been out on shelves for awhile but I now have the time to give it my own review. As a side note, from here on out, when I decide to do video game reviews, I am going to take from IGN’s review system and rate the following criteria: Presentation, Graphics, Sound, Gameplay, and Lasting Appeal.

NOTE SPOILERS AHEAD

E3 – Sony presentation thoughts

Let’s get straight to it!

MAG

With FPSes,  the biggest complaint is not having enough people to play against online or locally.  So, to accomodate to the FPS audience, they added 2 player split screen, then 4, then 8, 16, and lastly 32. With MAG however… HOW ABOUT 256!? That’s right readers! 256 combatants – all on the same screen, same arena, and same server.

PSP Go

I really think that this product is going to kick off well. With the primary source being digital media (both downloadable and Disc) handheld gaming will really be something! Here are the specs of the PSP GO

- 16 GB Internal Flash Memory

- Built in Wi-Fi (what protocols? B? G? N? All three?)

- Integrated Bluetooth (will Bluetooth headsets be compatible so that there can be multiplayer chat?)

- Slide out controls

PC compatibility with “Media Go”

Honestly after looking at real screen shots for a size comparison, I feel that the PSP GO is a mixture of the iPhone (the inclusion of “apps”) and the Nokia N-Gage. The only downside that I see to this is the price point. $249? I might as well save a little more for a PS3 or get a Wii.

E3 – Nintendo presentation thoughts

Nintendo

With a name as large as Nintendo, one can only expect a great amount of news from them; I’ll be honest and say that I was not impressed. But here are a couple of gems that struck my interest.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

The best way I can describe this is Zelda: Four Swords but sidescrolling and with Mario characters. The game caught my eye because you are jumping into a Mario adventure but fighting with other players to gain the most points and become L33t in ranking. It was amazing because the camera was phenomenal considering that the game was still in beta. I would be interested to see how 4 hardcore gamers would compete in a game that required you to collect the most coins and power-ups all while destroying the infamous Koopas, Hammer Bros., and Bowser himself.

Wii MotionPlus

Not much can be explained (or seen for that matter) when Nintendo showed their video for and extension for the already innovative Wiimote. When they unveiled this, it kinda reminded me of when Nintendo revealed the 64MB EXPANSION PACK for the NINTENDO 64. Apparently, when attaching this to the Wiimote, gameplay is supposed to be more realistic. Only time can tell when I get my hands on this along with Wii Sports Resort.

Games:

Like Microsoft, Nintendo leaked some games that will be available this holiday season / 2010. First one that I am REALLY EXCITED for is “Golden Sun DS” Not much was shown or explained but it is supposed to tie into the first 2 games but not so much that new gamers can pick it up and enjoy it. After watching the teaser trailer, I really want to see how epic summons are going to be along with Djinn spells.

“Metroid Other M” is the other game that I am excited about. The cinematics for the game were beautiful and the game itself is supposed to allow the player to understand Samus’s story as well as dive deeper into the Metroid universe. Team Ninja x Nintendo? EPIC.

Leave comments and tell me what you thought! Me? I was hoping that Nintendo would announce things like a new Zelda game or better yet, colored Wiis!
